Summary

  • For mainstream local government staff, continuous service within local government and with certain other prescribed associated bodies shall be taken into account in respect of redundancy payments. See Redundancy Payments Modification Order)
  • The Green Book provides for continuous service with two or more local authorities to count for the purposes of annual leave, and maternity and sick pay. (See Continuity provided under the National Conditions of Service)
  • The Green Book is silent on continuity of employment where industrial action has occurred, but there are provisions for employees to buy pensionable service lost during strikes. (See Industrial disputes)
