- Health risk management is about identifying and controlling health risks
before they can cause problems. (See 8.400 Health

- Hazard identification and risk assessment underpin the Health and Safety

- When deciding which control measures to take in order to eliminate or
reduce identified risks, employers must apply the principles of prevention in

appropriate for the effective planning, organisation, control, monitoring and
