  • Employers are required by law to consult employees on matters that affect their health and safety. (See Consultation)

  • Under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (SI 1995/3163) employers have a duty to report certain injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences. (See Reporting)

Future developments

First aid:On 22 October 2012, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) launched a Consultation on proposals to revise the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 (as amended) (on the HSE website). The consultation concerned proposals to remove the requirement for the HSE to approve employers' first-aid training and qualifications.
