- An employee is entitled to be given written reasons for his or her
dismissal. (See 9.307 The right to a written
statement of reasons for dismissal)
- Failure to do so will entitle the employee to bring a claim in the

Future developments
9.306 Revision of the Pregnant Workers Directive: The
European Commission has published proposals
for a revision of the Pregnant Workers Directive (92/85/EEC) (on the Europa
website). At present, where an employee is dismissed while she is pregnant or on
maternity leave, she is entitled to receive a written statement of reasons for
her dismissal. |
