Do employers have to pay redundancy payments to part-time employees?

Yes, part-time employees are entitled to statutory redundancy payments in the same way that full-time employees are. Further, under the Part-time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000/1551), it is unlawful for employers to treat part-time workers less favourably than comparable full-time workers. As such, part-time employees should also benefit from any contractual redundancy payments, calculated in the same way as those paid to full-time employees.
