Under criminal law what health and safety duties does an employer owe to its employees?

Under s.2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, an employer must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of its employees. This duty extends to matters including the maintenance of plant; systems of work; the arrangements for the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances; information and training; and access routes.
