When can an employee begin his or her statutory adoption leave?

An employee adopting a child from within the UK may choose to begin his or her statutory adoption leave from the date of the child's placement or from a predetermined date up to 14 days before the expected date of placement. An employee adopting a child from overseas may choose to begin his or her adoption leave from the date of the child's entry into Great Britain or from a predetermined date up to 28 days after that date.
