Where an employee is expecting twins, will she be entitled to two lots of maternity leave?
An employee who is expecting twins is entitled to only one period of maternity leave in respect of that multiple birth. All pregnant employees are entitled to take maternity leave of up to 52 weeks. However, this must be taken as a single period. Regardless of whether multiple births are involved, an employee can not return to work and then resume her maternity leave at a later date.
