What is the maximum amount of costs that a tribunal may order an employer to pay if it loses the case?

Under the Employment Tribunals Act 1996 and the Employment Tribunals (Constitution and Rules of Procedure) Regulations 2004 (SI 2004/1861), the maximum costs award that may be made by a tribunal is £10,000, in relation to a case submitted to the tribunal before 6 April 2012.

In relation to cases submitted to the tribunal on or after 6 April 2012, the maximum costs award is £20,000.
