If someone joins the reserve forces will his or her employer be informed?

Is an employer entitled to receive any financial assistance when a member of the reserve forces is called out?

If an employee's mobilisation results in increased costs to the employer various amounts are payable by the Ministry of Defence (up to specified limits). These are: an administration expense; a lump sum payment to cover recruitment and training of a replacement; and any additional recurring costs such as agency fees and staff overtime (minus the salary that would ordinarily have been paid to the employee).
