In each holiday year, under reg.13 of the Working Time Regulations
1998 (SI 1998/1833), workers have the legal right to a minimum of four weeks'
paid holiday. Regulation 13A, brought into force by the Working Time (Amendment)
Regulations 2007 (SI 2007/2079), introduced entitlement to a
further period of 1.6 weeks' annual leave, implemented in two phases of 0.8
week's leave on 1 October 2007 and the remaining 0.8 week's leave on 1 April
2009. Workers are therefore entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks' paid
