No. Union members have no right to be paid for time off to take part in union activities. The Acas code of practice on time off for trade union duties and activities (PDF format, 408K) (on the Acas website) suggests that employers may want to consider payment in certain circumstances, for example to ensure that workplace meetings enjoy a good turnout and are therefore more representative of the workforce.
