In Roberts v Tate & Lyle Industries Ltd (26.2.86) EOR7F, the European Court of Justice rules that it is not contrary to the EEC Equal Treatment Directive for an employer to arrange for both redundant male and female employees to receive an immediate occupational pension at age 55, even though this meant the men received their pension 10 years prior to normal retirement whereas women received their pension only five years before their normal retirement age.
