In Bhimji v Wigan and Leigh College a Manchester employment tribunal (Chair: C J Chapman) rules that a College was liable for students' racist and sexist abuse of a female Asian lecturer.

Ms Bhimji, who is of Asian origin, was employed as a lecturer in information technology at Wigan and Leigh College. Between the beginning of September 1999 and 12 October 1999, she was subjected to racial and sexual abuse on two separate occasions when teaching a particular class to which she was assigned.
