Compensation for blood clot caused by officework

In an out-of-court settlement, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has admitted liability and paid compensation to an office worker who developed a life-threatening thrombosis as a result of a change to her work routine.

The case highlights the need for employers to take account of employees' medical history when making changes to systems of work.
