Withdrawal of an offer of employment to a woman because she became pregnant was unfair dismissal on grounds of pregnancy and unlawful sex discrimination, finds a Shrewsbury industrial tribunal (Chair: S J Williams) in Fitzgerald v (1) Staffordshire County Council and (2) Board of Governors, Knutton Infants' School.

On 8 November 1995, Ms Fitzgerald was appointed to a temporary post as class teacher at Knutton Infants' School for the period 3 January to 31 August 1996.
