In Walker v Wabco Automotive UK Ltd, the Court of Appeal overturns damages awarded to a woman for a work-related upper-limb disorder after it finds that her employers could not have been expected to anticipate that the use of vibrating tools could lead to carpal tunnel syndrome.
Christine Walker developed carpal tunnel syndrome - inflammation of the tendons or tendon sheath causing pain, tingling and weakness - in her right wrist in June 1991 and in her left wrist in 1993.
