In Mann and others v Secretary of State for Employment 15.7.99 House of Lords, the House of Lords holds that the EC Insolvency Protection Directive does not apply to the appointment of administrative receivers. Consequently, the Secretary of State had no obligation whatever in Community law to guarantee any payments due from a company in administrative receivership to former employees of the company whom the receivers had made redundant.
