In Slack and others v Cumbria County Council and Equality and Human Rights Commission sub nom Cumbria County Council v Dow (No.2) [2009] IRLR 463 CA, the Court of Appeal held that employees engaged on consecutive contracts for the same work, and on the same terms, apart from a reduction in hours, were in a "stable employment relationship" for the purposes of time limits under the Equal Pay Act 1970.
