Judicial review: Challenge to Consultation Regulations fails

In R v Secretary of State for Trade and Industry ex parte Unison and others 15.5.96 High Court, the High Court holds that the Secretary of State acted lawfully in making the Regulations that removed the obligation on employers to consult representatives of recognised trade unions when proposing to make even a single employee redundant. Those Regulations properly implemented two EC Directives so far as they concerned consultation with affected employees' representatives.
