Sterling v Leeds Rugby League Club ET/1802453/00 (1 other report)
In Sterling v (1) Leeds Rugby League Club, (2) Lance, (3) Howes and (4) Hetherington a Leeds employment tribunal (Chair: D R Sneath) awards compensation of £15,250, including £10,000 for injury to feelings, to a black rugby league player discriminated against on the grounds of race, and makes a number of recommendations, including a recommendation that the player be offered a new contract.
Following its decision that professional rugby league player Paul Sterling had been unlawfully discriminated against on grounds of race when he was excluded from the first-team squad and that he had also been unlawfully victimised (see Sterling v Leeds Rugby League Club and others DCLD47B), the tribunal reconvened to consider the issue of remedies.
