A privatised water company is a "state body" for the purposes of the direct application of the provisions of EC Directives, holds the High Court in Griffin and others v South West Water Services Ltd. However, says the Court, the consultation and information provisions of the "Collective Redundancies" Directive are not sufficiently unconditional and precise to be relied upon directly by individuals in domestic legal proceedings.
