An Asian machine setter who suffered racial abuse causing a severe depressive illness resulting in him being unable to work has been awarded total compensation of £130,736 (plus interest of £6,226), including £20,000 for injury to feelings, by a Sheffield employment tribunal (Chair: R L L Williams) in Mustafa v (1) Ancon Clark Ltd and (2) McNally.

Mr Mustafa had been employed by Ancon Clark Ltd, and its predecessor, as a machine setter/operator, since 1976.
