In Perceval-Price and others v Department of Economic Development and Northern Ireland Civil Service a Northern Ireland industrial tribunal (Chair: J McKee) has ruled that tribunal chairmen are "workers" within the meaning of Article 119 of the EC Treaty and are able to bring claims of equal pay and sex discrimination.

Mayo Price, the Vice-President of the Industrial Tribunals and the Fair Employment Tribunal, and Monica Davey, a full-time tribunal chairman in Northern Ireland, brought a test case concerning the judicial pension scheme.
