The facts

Mr Davis was dismissed because he refused to accept the duties and responsibilities of his position as Deputy Head of the respondents' Documentary Credits Department, as set out in the job description for that post. On termination he was given the sum of £3156, which was the equivalent of six months' pay although he was only entitled to three months' notice.
