Unfair dismissal: Summary dismissal does not invalidate claim during notice period

An industrial tribunal had jurisdiction to hear an employee's unfair dismissal complaint, which was lodged after the employee received notice of termination of her employment but before her employer summarily dismissed her during the notice period, holds the Court of Appeal in Patel v Nageson. The Court also rules that the employee was not barred from complaining of unfair dismissal on the basis that she had reached "normal retiring age".
