  • April 2017: nine key employment law changes

    13 March 2017

The run-up to April is typically a busy time of year for HR professionals, with new employment legislation due to come into force. 2017 is no exception, with the most significant development being the introduction of the gender pay gap reporting duty for larger employers. However, there are a number of other key changes affecting all employers, regardless of their size.

  • Additional paternity leave

    5 July 2010

The right to additional paternity leave came into force in April 2010, and affects the parents of children with a due date on or after 3 April 2011. Essentially it allows the mother of a child to "donate" some of her maternity leave entitlement to the father, who can then take up to 26 weeks off work to care for the child.
