Additional paternity leave for employees who adopt from overseas

The Additional Paternity Leave (Adoption from Overseas) Regulations 2010 entitle employees who adopt children from overseas to take up to 26 weeks' paternity leave in the first year after the child enters Great Britain, pursuant to the Work and Families Act 2006. This has effect in relation to children who enter Great Britain on or after 3 April 2011. The right applies to employees who are spouses or partners (of either sex) of adopters, or, where a child is adopted jointly by two people, spouses or partners of the person who has elected to take adoption leave.
