Automatic Enrolment (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013 come into force

Implementation date: 1 November 2013

The Regulations make changes to the automatic enrolment process in Northern Ireland, including providing an alternative definition of "pay reference period" for the purpose of assessing whether or not a jobholder has sufficient earnings to be auto-enrolled into a qualifying pension scheme, and for the purpose of assessing whether or not a pension scheme can be used for auto-enrolment. The Regulations also clarify the form and content of an opt-out notice, and introduce consistent contribution payment deadlines for everyone joining a pension scheme. The Regulations are consistent with Regulations made in Great Britain.
