Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses (Amendment) Regulations 2016 come into force

Implementation date: 8 May 2016

The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses (Amendment) Regulations 2016 (SI 2016/510) amend the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/3319) to prohibit employment agencies from generic recruitment advertising in another European Economic Area (EEA) country without also advertising the vacancy in English before or at the same time in Great Britain. This is an extension of an existing prohibition on advertising job vacancies in other EEA countries introduced on 5 January 2015 by the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses (Amendment) Regulations 2014 (SI 2014/3351). The legislation also amends various other provisions in the Regulations to reduce regulatory burdens on employment agencies.

In addition, the Regulations make consequential amendments to the Merchant Shipping (Maritime Labour Convention) (Recruitment and Placement) Regulations 2014 (SI 2014/1615) in relation to record-keeping.
