Employment Relations Act 1999, section 1 and schedule 1 come into force

The Act allows an independent union makes a formal request for recognition, which must be in writing, and which must define the part of the business (the bargaining unit) in respect of which the request is being made. Section 1 and schedule 1 can be viewed on the OPSI website.
