Gender Recognition Act 2004 comes into force
Implementation date: 4 April 2005
The Act allows transsexuals to gain legal
recognition in their acquired gender, to marry in their new gender and to apply
for a substitute birth certificate. The Act
and the Order bringing the Act into force can be viewed on then
OPSI website.
