Surrogate parents eligible for adoption leave

The Children and Families Act 2014 permits parents who have a child through a surrogacy arrangement to take ordinary paternity leave and pay, adoption leave and pay and shared parental leave and pay, provided that they meet the eligibility criteria.

Changes to statutory adoption leave and pay

The Children and Families Act 2014 brings statutory adoption pay into line with statutory maternity pay by setting it at 90% of normal earnings for the first six weeks of the adoption pay period.

Duty to inform and consult under TUPE amended for micro-businesses

The Collective Redundancies and Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 (SI 2014/16) provide that a micro-business, which is an employer with fewer than 10 employees, may comply with its duty to inform and consult under TUPE by informing and consulting directly with affected employees.

Discrimination questionnaire procedure repealed from 6 April 2014

The Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 repeals s.138 of the Equality Act 2010, which sets out the procedure that enables an individual to obtain information from the employer about discrimination and provides for the information to be used as evidence in tribunal proceedings.
