Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2008 come into force

The Regulations provide a third tier of ill health retirement benefit for a Local Government Pension Scheme member who leaves employment because he or she is assessed by an independent occupational health practitioner as being permanently incapable of his or her current job but medical evidence indicates that he or she is capable of obtaining alternative employment within three years of leaving.
