National Minimum Wage (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2016 come into force

Implementation date: 1 October 2016

The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2016 (SI 2016/953) increase the hourly rate of the national minimum wage. The rate of the national minimum wage for workers aged 21 to 24 increases from £6.70 to £6.95 per hour. The rate for workers aged 18 to 20 increases from £5.30 to £5.55 per hour, the rate for workers aged 16 to 17 increases from £3.87 to £4 per hour and the apprenticeship rate increases from £3.30 to £3.40 per hour. The rate of the accommodation offset increases from £5.35 to £6 per day. (The rate for workers aged 25 and over, the national living wage, is unaffected by these Regulations.)
