National minimum wage rises to £6.50 per hour

The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2014 increase the national minimum wage in line with the Low Pay Commission's recommendations to the Government. The main rate of the national minimum wage rises from £6.31 to £6.50 per hour. The youth rate increases from £5.03 to £5.13 per hour, the rate for workers aged 16 to 17 from £3.72 to £3.79 per hour, and the apprentice rate from £2.68 to £2.73 per hour.
