National Minimum Wage Regulations 1999 come into force

The Regulations introduce a national minimum wage payable to adult workers. The minimum hourly rate is introduced as £3.60. They also introduce a rate for workers aged between 18 and 21 of £3.20. The Regulations can be viewed on the OPSI website.
