Pensions Act 2004, various sections come into force

Implementation date: 6 April 2005

Various sections, including those relating to the introduction of a Pension Protection Fund and a Financial Assistance Scheme, come into force. The Pension Protection Fund is intended to protect final salary schemes against the risks of winding up and the Financial Assistance Scheme is designed to help employees whose schemes have already been closed. The Act and the explanatory notes and the Order bringing these sections into force can be viewed on the OPSI website.
