Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Injury Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 come into force

Implementation date: 31 March 2012

The Regulations insert a new definition of “adult survivor” into the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006 (SI 2006/268). Those Regulations make provision for payments to police officers who are permanently disabled as a result of an injury received without their own default in the execution of duty as a police officer or, where death results from such an injury, to surviving spouses or civil partners, children or other dependent relatives of the deceased member. The Regulations can be viewed on the UK legislation website.
