Reserve Forces (Call-Out and Recall) (Financial Assistance) (Amendment) Regulations 2015 come into force

Implementation date: 27 March 2015

The Reserve Forces (Call-out and Recall) (Financial Assistance) (Amendment) Regulations 2015
(SI 2015/460)
make amendments to the Reserve Forces (Call-out and Recall) (Financial Assistance) Regulations 2005 (SI 2005/859).

The Regulations extend the financial assistance available to employers when a reservist is called out on mobilised service. Employers can now claim for: the costs of training a replacement for the reservist, capped at £2,000; the cost of a handover for a replacement for the reservist, capped at £110 per day up to a maximum of five days before and five days after the period during which the reservist is called out for service in the armed forces; and the cost of any specialist clothing necessary for the reservist's replacement up to a maximum of the lesser of £300 or 75% of the costs incurred. Employers can now also claim for the cost of recurring agency fees incurred in replacing a reservist.

The maximum amount of the reservist's award which may be claimed by members of the reserve forces, other than those serving as accredited medical consultants, to mitigate financial losses resulting from his or her service pay during call out being lower than his or her civilian pay, is reduced from £548 to £400 per day.
