Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Miscellaneous Provisions) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009 comes into force

Implementation date: 12 October 2009

The Order provides that a person who has one or more learning difficulties specified in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 (SI 2007/1351) and who has no other disability, will not be treated as a vulnerable adult when receiving a service specifically for adults with the learning difficulties. It also excludes from the definition of regulated activity, treatment given to a child where the provision of that treatment is ancillary to that person's work. The Order also bars persons from engaging in a regulated activity in Northern Ireland where they are also barred from such activity in England and Wales, or Scotland. The Order can be viewed on the OPSI website.
