State pension age rises to 68 years
Implementation date: Mid-2030s
The Pensions Act 2007 raises the state pension age for men and women to 68. This had been due to occur between April 2044 and April 2046, but in Autumn statement 2013 the Chancellor of the Exchequer indicated that this is likely to come forward to the mid-2030s.
