Telecommunications (Lawful Business Practice) (Interception of Communications) Regulations 2000 come into force
Implementation date: 24 October 2000
The Regulations authorise certain
interceptions of telecommunications which would otherwise be prohibited under
the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. The interception has to be by
or with the consent of a person carrying on a business (which includes the
activities of government departments, public authorities and others exercising
statutory functions) for purposes relevant to that person's business and using
that business's own telecommunication system. The Regulations can be viewed on the OPSI website.
