Adoption: Handle an adoption leave and pay request (UK adoption situation)

When to use this workflow

Use this workflow when an employee informs you that he or she has been matched with a child for adoption.

Employees have a "day one right" to take a year's statutory adoption leave for the purpose of caring for their new son or daughter. Prior to 5 April 2015, employees required at least 26 weeks' continuous service calculated as at the week in which notification of matching was given by the adoption agency. Employees may also be entitled to receive statutory adoption pay for up to 39 weeks.

This workflow is an example of a legally compliant process. Where your organisation's own procedures go beyond the procedure set out in this workflow, you should follow these.
