Developer faces £500,000 court bill for sign failures

An Old Bailey judge has imposed fines and costs totalling £522,692 on a property developer after a pedestrian sustained a permanent brain injury when she was struck by falling parts of a decaying advertising sign. The company that built and looked after the visual appearance of the sign was fined and ordered to pay costs totalling £82,855.
