Employers' liability for mobile phone use while driving

From 1 December 2003, it will be a criminal offence to drive, or cause or permit another person to drive, a motor vehicle on the road while using a hand-held mobile phone or any device, other than a two-way radio, that performs an interactive communication function. On that date the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No.4) Regulations 2003 come into force.
