Government performs public sector pensions U-turn

Following the threat of strike action from seven public sector unions, the government appears to have had a dramatic change of heart. Whereas previously workers and public sector employers were at loggerheads over proposed changes to public sector pension schemes, the government has now declared that it wants to engage in open discussion. A renewed consultation process on the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) has already begun.
