Low Pay Commission sets out minimum wage rate recommendations

The Low Pay Commission (LPC) has recommended an above-inflation increase in the minimum wage.

The recommendation is for a 19p rise (3%) in the adult rate of the national minimum wage, which would increase it to £6.50 an hour from 1 October 2014. The LPC has also recommended that both the youth rates and the apprentice rate are increased by 2%.
