Religion case successful

A muslim who was sacked after he took extended leave to make a religious pilgrimage to Mecca is the first person to successfully bring a claim of religious discrimination under the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations that came into effect in December 2003.

Mr Khan applied to use his entire annual leave allowance to make the once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage.
