Reporting health and safety performance to be law

The government has proposed Regulations that will require directors to give shareholders significant information on their company's objectives, strategy, past performance and future prospects, including health and safety performance1. The proposals build on existing good practice of some larger companies.

The draft Regulations will require all 1,290 British companies whose share prices are quoted on a major stock exchange to produce an annual operating and financial review (OFR) from 1 January 2005.
